This Week in Silicon Valley • Wed, Jan 29
Pizza’s amazing journey from working class food in Naples to high cuisine is our story this week, coinciding with the launch of Silicon Valley Pizza Week. Eighty-five pizza places in four counties are participating in the Bay Area’s biggest pizza party ever, organized by Metro. There are many great options, from the Peninsula to the South Valley and Santa Cruz. Here are a few of my favorite specials:

Farm-to-table restaurant Mohi Farm in Morgan Hill has every pizza on its menu selling for $10. That’s not a typo. Tip well, order a drink and check-in with the app to show appreciation.

In Palo Alto, Pizzeria Delfina has a Noci Pie with walnut pesto, sweet herb sausage and caciocavallo cheese, and the celebrated Terún has two special pizzas, including their signature Margherita with cured spicy sausage.

Centenove in Los Gatos has a Calabrese-style special and Doppio Zero in Campbell has the Vesuvio with yellow tomato puree and capocollo.

Downtown San Jose has great Pizza Week offerings from Urban Putt, Nomikai, San Pedro Square Market’s Pizza Bocca Lupo, Rollati, SofA Market’s Pizza Way, Slice of Homage, Bibo’s and Last Round Tavern. Pizza My Heart has two specials—Mushroom Magic and the Watsonville Apple, by the pie or slice at all its locations.

The Bay Area’s contribution to world pizza culture, Indian Pizza, is well represented by Parktown Pizza and Tandoori. We wrote about the history of Indian Pizza in this week’s Metro.

There’s even halal pizza at Krusti Pizza in Santa Clara and the new Craving Pizza in Willow Glen, which has cheese pizzas for $8.95 and ones with pork-free pepperoni for $9.95. They also have a Nutella pizza with gelatin-free marshmallows.

I could keep going, but you get the idea. Grab or pull up a copy this week’s Metro or, better yet, download the app to see the specials, check in, post photos, collect points and win pizzas.
